Old Westbury, N.Y. (December 8, 2012) – The
Knights men's basketball team took their first conference
loss of the 2012-2013 season on the road against East Coast
Conference opponent New York Institute of Technology by the score
98-91.
The Knights played a fairly even contest against the NYIT
Bears (5-3, 2-0 ECC), trailing them by just eight at the half
and outscoring them by one point in the 2nd half 51-50.
The leading scorer for Queens College was George Holmes, who played
in his first game since injuring his leg during the opening Molloy
tip-off tournament. A healthier Holmes netted 25 points on the
afternoon, including a pair of three-pointers.
In the second half of the ballgame, the Knights were behind by
20 with 4 minutes to go, yet with the help of Holmes and Abe Akanmu
combining for 13 points, it helped narrow the deficit to 7.
The Knights will travel to Caldwell, New Jersey to take on the
Caldwell College Cougars on Monday December 17th, 2012
at 7 PM.
