Old Westbury, N.Y. (December 8, 2012) – The Knights men's basketball team took their first conference loss of the 2012-2013 season on the road against East Coast Conference opponent New York Institute of Technology by the score 98-91.

The Knights played a fairly even contest against the NYIT Bears (5-3, 2-0 ECC), trailing them by just eight at the half and outscoring them by one point in the 2nd half 51-50. The leading scorer for Queens College was George Holmes, who played in his first game since injuring his leg during the opening Molloy tip-off tournament. A healthier Holmes netted 25 points on the afternoon, including a pair of three-pointers.
In the second half of the ballgame, the Knights were behind by 20 with 4 minutes to go, yet with the help of Holmes and Abe Akanmu combining for 13 points, it helped narrow the deficit to 7.
