Knights Women's Basketball Falls to NYIT 70-58; Move to 3-3 (1-1 in ECC)

Old Westbury, N.Y. (December 8, 2012) – The Knights women's basketball team took their first conference loss of the 2012-2013 season on the road against East Coast Conference opponent New York Institute of Technology by the score 70-58.

The Knights struggled in the first half, getting down by as much as 16, finishing up the half down 11, 37-26. The Knights leader at the half was senior Bria Jackson (Rochester, N.Y./Rush-Henrietta) who netted seven points, including a three-pointer from beyond the arc.

In the second half, the Knights clawed back into it when a layup by Tara Fearon, tied the game at 48-48. However, the Knights could not contain the Bears (8-0, 2-0 ECC play) offense as NYIT went on a 6-0 run which put them at 54-48 and they would not look back. Leading the scoring in the 2nd half for the Knights was freshman Kristen Korzevinski, who had 10 points in the second half and 15 for the game.

The Knights will travel to Caldwell, New Jersey to take on the Caldwell College Cougars on Tuesday December 12th, 2012 at 6 PM.
