Bridgeport, CT. (October 27, 2012) – The Knights
women's volleyball team came up short against East Coast
Conference opponent University of Bridgeport Purple Knights in
three sets (25-11, 25-22, 25-21).
The Knights showed fight in the second set. Coming back from
being down 20-16, they scored 4 consecutive points to tie the set
up at 20. After getting behind 23-20, they again made a comeback,
pulling within one at 23-22 but Bridgeport went on to score 2
straight points to clinch the 2nd set 25-22. In set 3,
the Knights again made multiple comebacks but in the end Bridgeport
got the victory in the set and the match.
Leading the team in kills was senior Suzanne Byrne with 7 in the
contest. Her teammate, freshman Kayla Mergle led the Knights with
17 assists and 8 digs.
The Knights will next play on Tuesday October 30th when they
host the Dowling Golden Lions at 7 PM in the Maurice Fitzgerald
Gymnasium.
