FLUSHING, N.Y. - Senior Khalil McDonald led all scorers with 26 points on 9-for-18 shooting Saturday afternoon at Fitzgerald Gymnasium, as the Queens College men's basketball team narrowly fell in an East Coast Conference contest to visiting University of Bridgeport, 67-64.
McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.) was also 3-for-5 from 3-point range, 5-for-6 from the free-throw line and pulled down a team-best nine rebounds for the Knights - who saw two potential game-tying trifectas come up short. Senior shooting guard Edil Lacayo (Bronx, N.Y.) was 4-for-7 from downtown en route to 14 points, while sophomore reserve Jeremiah Mordi (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added 13 markers, eight rebounds and three steals.
Head coach Kyrk Peponakis's Queens side is back in ECC action next Saturday (Jan. 14), when it travels to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., for a 3 p.m. tip-off at Mercy College.
