Mordi's Career-Best 33 Lifts Men's Basketball Past Mercy

DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Jeremiah Mordi (Valley Stream, N.Y.) poured in a career-high 33 points Saturday afternoon, leading the Queens College men's basketball team to an 85-77, East Coast Conference victory at Mercy College.

Mordi was 9-for-20 shooting from the field, including a sparkling 6-for-10 effort from 3-point range to go with a 9-for-10 effort at the charity stripe (4-for-4 in last 36 seconds). He also contributed six rebounds, five assists and three steals for the Knights.

Seniors Khalil McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.) and Edil Lacayo (Bronx, N.Y.) added 18 and 12 points, respectively, while classmate Nana Boateng (Brooklyn, N.Y.) dished out a game-high six assists from his point guard position. Forwards Pat Piasecki (So., Coram, N.Y.) and Nees Nikovic (Fr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered nine points and five boards apiece in the low post for QC.

Head coach Kyrk Peponakis's squad is back in ECC action Wednesday night, when it plays host to conference-leading C.W. Post at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. Opening tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
