Labase and Co. down Dowling to Advance to ECC Semi-finals.

Flushing, N.Y- The Queens College Men's Basketball team knocked off the Dowling College Golden Lions in ECC Quarterfinal Action this evening, 77-68. With the win the Knights improve to an overall record of 20-7(16-5 ECC). The loss eliminates Dowling from post season play and drops their record to 8-19(8-13 ECC).

 

In a close fought contest, the Knights were able to pull away with the victory and advance to the ECC semi-finals this upcoming Saturday in Bridgeport, CT. Like they have all year the Knights used a fantastic shooting performance to down the Golden Lions. Queens shot an outstanding 52% from the field in the game as well as 50% from trey and a solid 80% from the free throw line to pull away with a nine point victory.

 

Four Knights found themselves in double digits as well as two of them registering double-doubles in the victory. Senior guard Anderson Labase paved the way for the Knights pouring in 23 points and dishing out 11 assists for his squad. Labase was an impressive 6-11 from the field as well as going a perfect 9-9 from the charity stripe. Labase's senior counterpart Lamonte Lans added 24 points of his own good for both a game and team high. Lans was 9-16 shooting while firing a 50% effort from trey going 4-8 from beyond the arc. Junior forward Khalil McDonald like Labase also registered a double-double dropping 13 points and grabbing a team high 11 boards. Rounding out the scoring for the Knights was freshman guard Jeremiah Mordi who contributed 13 points on 5-11 shooting as well was a 3-4 performance from three.

 

Queens with the win now moves on to take on conference foe C.W Post in Semi-final action. The Pioneers and Knights will meet for the fourth time this season this Saturday up at Bridgeport. All the action can be found at www.bridgeport.edu.

 

After the game the ECC announced its all conference teams for the 2010-2011 season. Three Knights were named to these squads. Junior Khalil McDonald was named to the first team and Seniors Anderson Labase and Lamonte Lans both find themselves on the ECC- All Conference Second Team. Queens College would like to congratulate these gentlemen in their efforts this year.
