Johnson's 21 not enough as Knights Fall to NYIT , 74-68

The Queens College Women's Basketball team dropped a Conference game to NYIT last night, 74-68. The loss drops the Knights to an overall record of 9-14 and an even 8-8 in conference. The Bears with the win improve to 7-14 overall and a 5-11 mark in the ECC.

Despite having four out of five starters in double digits for the contest the Knights were not able to come away with the victory. Queens shot an impressive 40 % from the field and 50 % from three in the contest.  However, the Knights missed costly free throws down the stretch shooting only 53% from charity stripe for the game. Queens also got out rebounded by Tech 47-27. Twenty two of techs rebounds were on the Offensive glass leading to 24 second chance points. The combination of poor rebounding and missed free throws seemingly was the difference in the decision.

It wasn't all gloom and doom for the Knights.  For the second time in as many games sophomore forward Chloe Johnson led the way for the Knights. Johnson dropped 21 points on 7-14 shooting while going 3-4 from trey, as well as grabbing a team high 8 rebounds. Senior guard Christine Harnishfeger chipped in with 15 points on 4-11 from the field and junior Cadie Chu added 11 of her own on a 4-7 effort. Rounding out the scoring for Queens was junior Amanda Bartlett who was 2-5 from the field and 6-8 from the charity stripe for a total of 10 points.

The Knights now stand at 8-8 in conference which seems them in a tie for fourth place with C.W Post University.  Queens' next opponent will be Mercy College. The Mavericks come to town on Saturday February 12th with tip-off slated for 5:00pm. Saturday is also the Women's Alumni game which is set to take place at 2:00. Everyone is encouraged to come down and support the Knights, new and old.
