The Queens College Women's Basketball team traveled to Rockville Center, NY to take on the Molloy College Lions in their final meeting of the regular season. Queens pulled out the victory in convincing fashion, 72-63. With the win the Knights improve to 9-13 (8-7 ECC), while the Lions fall to 6-16 (6-9 ECC).
The Knights got a much needed win Saturday as they defeated a Molloy Lions team in the final meeting for the two this season. A closely fought contest through the first 20 min, the Knights were able to grab the lead going into half up one, 31-30. The second half started off more of the same back and forth between the two teams. Queens was finally able to pull away with the win 72-63.
The Knights used a solid offensive attack to down the Lions. Shooting a solid 39% from the floor for the game and 76 % from the charity stripe proved to be all the Knights would need to put the Lions away. Two Knights had tremendous scoring performances. Sophomore forward Chloe Johnson poured in a game and team high 24 points for the Knights. Johnson connected on 8-15 from the field as well as an impressive 6-9 effort from three point range. Junior guard Amanda Bartlett added 20 points of her own on 6-14 shooting while going a perfect 7-7 from the charity stripe. Lastly, freshman Caitlin Hopkins turned in a solid performance just barely missing a double-double. Hopkins added 9 points and 9 rebounds as well as a solid performance in the paint.
The win moves the Knights into a tie for third place in the ECC and only one game out of the two spot. The Knights are back in action this up coming Wednesday February 9th when they travel to N.Y.I.T to take on the Bears. All the action can be followed at www.nyit.edu.
