Knights fall to First Place Spartans, 67-50

The Queens College Women's Basketball team traveled to Sparkill, NY to take on the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas. The Knights were bested by the Spartans by the score of 67-50. With the loss the Knights fall to 8-13 (7-7 ECC) while the Spartans improve to 16-5 (12-2 ECC).

Coming off a big win against Bridgeport this past Thursday at home the Knights looked to knock off first place seed STAC on the road. Unfortunately, the Knights were not able to do so. The usual potent Knights offense was held to only fifty points against the Spartans. Queens only managed to shoot 34% from the field for the game as well as only 21% from beyond the arc. The Knights also turned the ball over 19 times in the contest and of those, 12 of them were steals by the Spartans defense.

Despite the tough loss, three Knights found themselves in double digits for the contest. Junior Amanda Bartlett led the way for Queens with 11 points. Senior Christine Harnishfeger and junior Cadie Chu both added 10 points each as well.

With their conference record now at an even 7-7 the Knights find themselves tied for fourth place in the ECC with C.W Post. Next up for the Knights is conference foe Molloy. Tip off is scheduled for Saturday February 5th at 1:00pm. In their previous two meetings Molloy has gotten the best of the Knights both times. Queens looks to pick up the win and continue to climb the ECC standings. All live stats and video can be found at www.molloy.edu
