Knights drop season Finale to STAC, 62,43

The Queens College Women's Basketball team concluded their regular season with a loss to the first place Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas, 62-43. The loss drops the Knights to 10-18 overall and 9-12 in ECC action. The win improves the Spartans' overall record to 21-7 and 17-4 in conference play.

The Knights started off cold and could never recover despite playing a better second half. Queens shot a poor 24% from the field in the first half as well as going only 1-12 from trey. The Spartans took a 36-19 into the half and never relinquished the lead, holding on for a 19 point victory.

Two Knights registered double digit scoring nights for the contest. Junior guard Amanda Bartlett led the way for her squad with an 11 point effort while going 5-6 from the free throw line. Senior Christine Harnishfeger added 10 points in the contest while going 3-8 from the field.

Four Knights' seniors were honored by Head Coach Tom Flahive before the game for their careers here at Queens College. Seniors Christine Harnishfeger, Taylaya Melton, Jessica Fairweather and Danielle Tharrington all played their last Home game of their careers as a Queens College Knight. The Coaching staff and the Athletic Department would like to thank these young ladies for their dedication and hard work during their time here at QC as well as wish them continued success in their post graduate endeavors.

The Knights who earned the fifth spot in the ECC playoffs get set to take on the fourth seeded C.W. Post Pioneers. Queens has lost all three match-ups thus far this season against Post but look to advance to the round of four with a win Wednesday. The Knights will travel to Brookville, NY for the third time this season to take on Post in a game slated to start at 6:00 pm. All live stats and video can be found at www.cwpostpioneers.com.
