Strong Shooting leads Knights past Pioneers, 81-75

The Queens College Men's Basketball team closed out their regular season series with the Pioneer with a convincing 81-75 victory on the road last night. The win improves the Knights to an overall record of 18-7 and a 15-5 mark in Conference play. The loss sees the Pioneers drop to 19-8 overall and 16-4 in ECC action.

 

The Knights used another phenomenal shooting effort to down the Pioneers. Grinding out the first half deadlocked at 38-38 after the first twenty minutes, the Knights showed true grit and pulled away with the victory. QC shot an outstanding 51 % from the floor in the game as well as a 45% effort from trey and a 71% showing from the charity stripe.

 

Three Knights registered double digit scoring nights in the victory. Senior guard Lamonte Lans led the way for his squad. Lans poured in 26 points good for a game and team high while going 8-15 from the field, 3-5 from trey and 7-10 from the free throw line. Junior guard Khalil McDonald added 19 points of his own in the contest. McDonald was a solid 8-14 from the floor while pulling down 7 boards. Junior Edil Lacayo rounded out the scoring for Queens with a solid 5-10 effort good for 13 points.

 

The Knights look to wrap up their 2011 regular season with a home game against STAC on Saturday. Tip off is slated for 7:30 pm with Senior Night ceremonies to come before hand.
