Lacayo and Co. coast to 89-75 victory over Mercy

The Queens College Men's basketball team added another win last night beating the Mavericks of mercy College, 89-75. The win sees the Knights improve to 16-6 overall and 13-4 in the ECC. The loss drops the Mavericks to 1-21 overall and 1-16 in Conference play.  

The Knights used good shooting to down the visiting Mavericks of Mercy College. Queens shot an impressive 52% from the floor for the game, as well as 42% from three. QC got off to an early lead and never looked back, proving to be to much for Mercy to handle.

 

Queens saw four of its players register double digit scoring nights in the victory. Leading the way for his squad, junior guard Edil Lacayo poured in 21 points, good for both a game and team high. Lacayo was 6-8 from the floor, while going an impressive 5-7 from trey. Teammate Anderson Labase had an as close to perfect shooting performance as they come. Labase racked up 19 points on 7-8 shooting while going a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Junior Khalil McDonald added 14 points of his own as well as registering 4 blocks in the contest. Rounding out the scoring for QC was senior guard Lamonte Lans. Fresh off his 1,000 career point, Lans added another 11 to his total on 5-12 shooting in the game.

 

The Knights, winners of their last four out of five games look to keep the ball rolling against Dowling this coming Wednesday. Tip off is scheduled for 7:30pm with all live stats and video to be found on our website under the schedules tab.
