Pastor Registers Double-Double in ECC Opener

SPARKILL, N.Y. - Sophomore guard Catherine Pastor picked up a 14-point, 14-rebound double-double Wednesday night at Aquinas Hall, as the Queens College women's basketball team competed in its first East Coast Conference contest of the 2011-12 campaign at Saint Thomas Aquinas College.

The Knights held the lead for roughly 32 minutes of action, before eventually succumbing to the host Spartans by a 45-40 count.

QC received nine points from fellow sophomore guard, Nicole Caggiano (Holtsville, N.Y.), while senior Cadie Chu (Bellerose, N.Y.) contributed eight points, seven rebounds and four assists. Freshman Megan Lonergan (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also pulled down seven caroms, helping the Knights to a 50-35 advantage in that category.

Queens utilized a 13-3 run over the final 8:46 of the first half to secure a 25-12 halftime edge. Caggiano and sophomore Alexandra Marshall (Manorville, N.Y.) each banked home two layups during the spurt.

Head coach Bet Naumovski's Knights are back in road action Dec. 14, when they travel to Garden City, N.Y., for a 7 p.m., non-conference tip-off at Adelphi University.
