WASHINGTON - Senior forward Khalil McDonald led all scorers with a career-high 29 points on 11-for-19 shooting, including a 4-for-8 clip from 3-point range, Wednesday night as the Queens College men's basketball team fell narrowly in an East Coast Conference match-up at the University of the District of Columbia, 77-69.
McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.) completed his second-straight double-double with 10 rebounds for the Knights, who also received big efforts in the low post from sophomore Pat Piasecki (Coram, N.Y.) and freshman Nees Nikovic (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Piasecki scored a career-best 17 points (7-for-7 FT) to go with seven rebounds, while Nikovic made a major contribution off the bench for the second-consecutive outing with career-bests of 12 points and eight boards.
Head coach Kyrk Peponakis's Queens side, which shot a perfect 12-for-12 from the charity stripe against the Firebirds, are back in action Saturday afternoon (Dec. 3), when it travels to Brookville, N.Y., for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference contest at C.W. Post.
