FLUSHING, N.Y. – Senior forward Khalil McDonald scored 18 points; while sophomore guard, Jeremiah Mordi added 17 to lead the Queens College Knights to their first East Coast Conference win, 69-66, over visiting Molloy College Wednesday night at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.
McDonald (Queens Village, N.Y.) added an impressive 14 rebounds (seven offensive) and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. Mordi (Valley Stream, N.Y.) boosted the Knights with three trifectas, went 6-for-7 at the line, and produced a game-high six assists. Senior point guard Nana Boateng (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman center Nees Nikovic (Brooklyn, N.Y.; five rebounds) each added nine points for Queens (2-1, 1-0 ECC).
Molloy (1-4, 0-1 ECC) saw junior guard Jimmy Nolan score a game-high 28 points, followed up by sophomore guard John Petrucelli (16) and freshmen guard Matt McLeod (15) both scoring in double digits.
Head coach Kyrk Peponakis's Knights, who received a decisive 11-0 edge in bench points (largely from Nikovic) on the evening, are back in ECC action Wednesday night (Nov. 30), when they travel to Washington for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the University of the District of Columbia.
