Bartlett leads Knights past Bridgeport, 68-61

The Queens College Women's Basketball team pulled out a thrilling victory over the University of Bridgeport 68-61 at home on Monday night. The win helps the Knights improve to an overall record of 8-12 and 7-6 in ECC play. The loss drops Bridgeport to 9-11 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

In a game that had been rescheduled twice before tonight, the Queens College Knights got the big time win they had been looking for. Coming off a tough loss to C.W Post this past Saturday the Knights knew that they needed to take this game from Bridgeport to get back into the mix of things on top the ECC. The 68-61 win now puts the Knights in a three way tie for third place in the Conference along side Bridgeport and C.W Post.

The Knights got a big game from junior guard Amanda Bartlett. Despite only playing 25 minutes in the contest due to foul trouble, Bartlett poured in a team and game high 26 points. Bartlett was 8-12 from the field in the game as well as going 2-4 from trey and a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. Sophomore forward Chloe Johnson also chipped in with 14 points of her own. Johnson who was 4-11 from the field also knocked down three shots from beyond the arc. Queens as a team shot a solid 43% from the field as well as 37% from three point range in the contest.

Next up for the Knights is the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College. The Spartans currently sit on top the ECC with a 11-2 record in conference play. Queens looks to keep the ball rolling and continue to climb to the top of the ECC. Tip off is slated for 5:00 pm  on Wednesday February 2nd.
