The Queens College Men's basketball team made it five straight victories last night with a convincing win on the road against Dowling, 73-52. With the win the Knights stay in a tie for first place in the ECC, improving to a 12-4 overall record with a 9-2 mark in conference play. The loss sees Dowling fall to 4-12 and 4-7 in the ECC.
Queens used another quality shooting effort to propel themselves over Dowling. In the first half, the Knights shot 42 % from the field and 72 % form the charity stripe to take the lead at half, 39-21. The Knights road their first half success to victory as the second stanza was reasonably closer.
The Knights shot a total of 46 % from the floor in the game. Paced by senior guard Lamonte Lans, once again, Queens saw four of its players in double digits. Lans led the way with 19 points on 8-11 shooting while also contributing 5 steals in the contest. Junior Khalil McDonald added 17 points while going 6-13 from the floor. Junior guard Edil Lacayo provided a solid effort off the bench for Queens dropping 11 points in only 15 minutes of play. Lacayo was a perfect 4-4 from the field and 3-3 from beyond the arc. Senior Akim Neverson rounded out the scoring with 10 points of his own.
The Knights look to take sole possession of first place this week. With home games against Bridgeport and C.W Post the Knights find themselves poised and ready to take on the other two number one teams, all three knotted at the top of the ECC at 9-2. First up for the Knights will be the Bridgeport Purple Knights at home on Wed. January 26th with tip-off slated for 7:30 pm. Video and Live-stats can be found under our schedule tab.
