The Queens College Men's Basketball team used a tremendous offensive effort to beat the Mercy College Mavericks in their home opener 95-84. With the win the Knights improve to 4-1 and 3-0 in the ECC while the Mavericks drop to 2-5 and 0-3 in Conference play.
Wednesday night five different Knights found themselves in double figures, helping their team to an eleven point victory over Mercy. The Knights used a huge first half to propel themselves to victory, winning the first half 51-36. Junior guard, Edil Lacayo played a huge part in the first half and in tonight's win, knocking down four out of his first five shots from beyond the arc. Lacayo had a terrific night, shooting 50 % from the floor going 7-14 and 6-12 from the three point line. Edil finished the night with a game and team high 24 points. Senior Akim Neverson and junior, Khalil McDonald both added 17 points of their own in tonights game.Senior Terrell Simmons added 13 points on 4 of 8 shooting and teammate Lamonte Lans rounded out the scoring also adding 13 points.
