Knight use big first half to grab ECC win over NYIT

The Queens College Women's Basketball team picked up their first conference win of the season Saturday evening in Old Westbury. The Knights beat the N.Y.I.T bears 70-74 and in doing so improved to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the ECC. The Bears with the loss drop to 1-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

Queens used a big first half to propel themselves over the Bears. The Knights took an eleven point lead into the locker room after twenty minutes. Junior Amanda Bartlett had a big first half connecting on here first 4 of 5 shots from behind the arc. Bartlett eventually finished with 28 points, leading all scorers in the contest.
 
The second half saw a scrappy N.Y.I.T team fight back and eventually regain the lead. Despite wining the second half 36-29 the Bears proved no match for the Knights as junior Cadie Chu's lay-up all but sealed the deal for the Knights.  Besides Bartlett's efforts, QC also got 11 points from both Christine Harnischfeger and Danielle Tharrington. The Knights also used an eighty percent free throw effort to down their opponent.
 
The Knights return to action Wednesday December 8th as they host Mercy at 5pm, for this year's home opener at Queens College. All the action and live stats can be found here on our website.
