Five Knights in double digits in 73-68 loss to STAC

The Queens College Knights lost a heartbreaker to the first place Spartans of St. Thomas 73-68. Despite having all five starters in double digits, STAC proved to be to much for the Knights. With the loss the Knights fall to 4-8 (3-2 ECC) while the Spartans improve to 9-3(5-0 ECC)

The Knights re-opened their season last night after a week lay-off against the visiting Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College. The match-up which with a win could have put Queens in an early tie for first, proved to be a possible play-off preview. Despite the visitors hot start the Knights rallied late in the first half to only be down three at half, 31-28.

The second half, at least for most of it proved to be different. The Knights turned the tide despite a slow start. With the help of all five of its starters, and junior Amanda Bartlett leading the way with 18 points , QC was not only able to catch up but was also able to take a 13 point lead with 4:35 left in the game. Nicole Caggiano added 11 for the Knights and Christine Harnishfeger, Cadie Chu and Caitlin Hopkins all added 10 a piece. Unfortunately, the Knights couldn't hold off a furious Spartan rally that saw the visitor climb back to a five point victory.

The Knights take on Bridgeport January 5th on the road. This game will be another conference tester for the Knights who look to get back to their recent winning ways. The game is slated to start at 5:00pm and all live stats and video can be found on www.bridgeport.edu.
