Knights lose OT Thriller to Pace 73-70

The Queens College Men's Basketball team traveled to Plesantville, NY Sunday to take on the Pace University Setters. The game turned out to be an overtime thriller. The Knights found themselves on the wrong side of things losing to pace by three, 73-70.  With the loss the Queens falls to 1-1 overall, as the Setters improve to 4-1, despite having three Knights in double figures.

 The Setters would come out strong in the first half controlling the pace of play as well as staying on top for most of the half. The Setters would take a three point lead into the locker room leading the Knights 34-31. However, the second half would tell a different story. Both teams exchanged blows early on but the Knights, with eleven minutes left in the game went on a 10-0 run to tie it up at 49-49. Queens was up by two with one minute remaining but a foul would send Setter, Keon Williams to the line for Pace. Williams hit both his free throws to send the game into overtime. In overtime Pace outscored the Knights 8-5, sending Queens home with a heartbreaking loss.

 Three Knights found themselves in double figures in tonight's game. Edil Lacayo had 11 points going 4-16 from the field, and Khalil McDonald provided a fantastic effort off the bench for the Knights. McDonald was 9-15 from the floor which was good for a 21 point showing. Akim Neverson was the story of the night for Queens adding 26 points of his own along with 11 rebounds for his first double-double of the year.

The Knights have this week off and are back in action next week, December 1st when they take on conference foe Molloy College at 8pm in Melville, NY.
