FLUSHING, N.Y. - Despite holding an 11-7 advantage in shots and
a 6-2 edge in corner kicks, the Queens men's soccer team dropped a
2-0 decision at the hands of visiting Philadelphia University,
Tuesday afternoon.
The Rams (9-4-1) got on the board in the 41st minute, when Milos
Racic collected an errant ball in the Knights' (4-10-1) defensive
third and beat Dario Cabanas (four saves) to the lower right-hand
side of the goal.
Philadelphia added to its lead in the 60th minute of play, when
Travis Lobb's corner kick found the head of Wojciech Sliwinski
eight yards from goal to provide the 2-0 final score.
Danny Stoker fired a game-high four shots for host Queens,
including the squad's best effort on goal more than midway through
the second half of play, which was turned aside by Rams goalie Alex
Heston.
Head coach Joseph Misso's Queens side will look to improve upon its
East Coast Conference tournament chances on Saturday afternoon
(Oct. 23), when it plays host to NYIT for a 2:30 p.m. kick-off.
