Fabio Minami completed his sixth season as an assistant coach for the Queens College men's and women's tennis programs in 2018-19.
Minami was named ITA Men's East Region Assistant Coach of the Year in the 2018-19 season after helping the men's team return to prominence a year after losing five seniors due to graduation. With Minami's tutelage, the Knights ran through the East Coast Conference schedule and claimed their third consecutive ECC Tournament title.
Minami was named ITA Men's and Women's East Region Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2016-17 season after helping both the men's and women's teams win regional titles and reach the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament. The 2014 campaign saw Minami thrust into a major role. Minami teamed with then interim head coach, Alan Nagel, to help the QC men's tennis team replenish its numbers and earn an at-large bid to the NCAA championship. The team posted a 12-9 overall mark that included three victories over Division I opponents, St. Peter's St. Francis and Rider.
An alumnus and former player, Minami enjoyed a fabulous tennis career at Queens College. As a junior in 2010-11, he was named Second Team All-ECC while compiling a 12-3 record at third and fourth singles and a 11-5 mark in doubles.
Over his last three seasons, Minami won several school and conference awards. He was First Team All-ECC in both 2007-08 and 2008-09 as well as ECC Rookie of the Year in 2007-08 and Queens College Outstanding Freshman.
