In both 2009 and 2010, Erica earned all-Metropolitan Swimming Conference honors. She was named the recipient of the Queens College Scholar-Athlete Award in 2010 while earning her team''s Most Improved Swimmer and Scholar-Athlete awards.

Erica currently is enrolled in the Macaulay Honor College and in the MARC-U Star program, She conducts research under Dr. Carrolyn Pytte while studying neurogenesis and zebra finch behavior. In the summer of 2010 she also did research under reknowned Dr. Fernando Nottebohm at Rockefeller University.
