Indira was a prominent member of the track team and was named ECC Cross Country Runner of the Week in October of 2008 when she bested the field at the College of Staten Island Invitational, held at Van Cortlandt Park. Avila completed the course in a time of 20:33 to win on the women''s side. Indira was later named QC Women''s Cross Country MVP.

She is also a member of the Lady Knights soccer team.

While in high school Indira was Kiwanis Cup MVP, Forest Hills Soccer MVP and Sportsmanship Soccer Award winner.
