Jon Zapata enters his first season as assistant coach under coach Vertullo.
Zapata will be tasked in training the Knights goalkeepers.
A national champion and captain under Vertullo's Suffolk Community College coaching career, Zapata helped lead the Sharks to the NJCAA 2014 National Championship. He would earn National Championship Finals MVP Honor and All-American status.
Zapata started his coaching career in 2015 at Gold Coast in Long Island before transitioning to a goalkeeper coach at FC SESA Academy in 2018 and Met Oval Academy in 2020. In 2022, Zapata was appointed the Director of Goalkeepers at SUSA Academy FC.
Currently Zapata holds United States Soccer Federation D License and is in the process of earning his C License.
