Robert Tierney is posthumously honored as an educator and coach
from 1947 to 1961 and 1964 to 1972. The longest-tenured baseball
coach at the college, he amassed more wins than any other baseball
coach, with 286. In addition to his duties as baseball coach,
Tierney served as the athletic director and a professor in the
Physical Education Department. Both his colleagues and former
student-athletes recognized him as a mentor and school leader.
