Geoffrey Maloney | Class of 1963 | Baseball | Men's Basketball
Geoffrey Maloney '63 was a campus star in both baseball and basketball. On the hardwood, Maloney set myriad records, including a pair that stand to this day: his career scoring average (19.8) and single-season scoring average (26.0). On the diamond, his greatest achievement was throwing a no-hitter against Brooklyn College in 1961. His single season ERA of 1.03 is the second-best in school history. Maloney was the first QC player to have his number—22—retired. Offered a tryout with the Detroit Pistons of the NBA and drafted by the Minnesota Twins, he played pro baseball for a few years before embarking on a successful business career.
