NEW HAVEN, CT. – Opening the week in non-conference play, the regionally-ranked No. 10 Queens College women's soccer team matched up against Southern Connecticut State University at Jess Dow Field Wednesday evening.
Three first-half goals from the Owls proved to be the difference as Queens fell by a final score of 3-0.
With the loss, Queens moves to 4-3 overall on the season.

The Owls struck early, taking a 1-0 lead in the second minute of play.
As the Knights looked to get back into the contest, an offside call nullified a scoring opportunity in the 32nd minute.
Southern Connecticut State would add two more goals before halftime to take a 3-0 lead into the break, while the Knights were held without a shot in the opening 45 minutes.

Nicole Zareba's attempt was saved in the 83rd minute as the Knights fell by a final score of 3-0.

- Queens was outshot by Southern Connecticut State, 20-3, including a 10-1 margin in shots on goal.
- Camacho, Adams, and Zareba recorded the Knights' three shots, with Zareba registering Queens' lone shot on target.
- In goal, senior Samantha Hines-Hirsch tied a season-best with seven saves for the second consecutive match.

Queens opens a two-match homestand on Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Knights welcome defending East Coast Conference champions Roberts Wesleyan University to town for their ECC opener. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
