FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's soccer team concluded Week Three with a 2-0 victory over Dominican University of New York and prepares for another challenging week, including the opening of East Coast Conference play.
Head coach Thomas Paris and the Knights enter the week with a 4-2 overall record. On Tuesday, Queens remained in the Top 10 of the latest United Soccer Coaches East Region poll, earning the No. 10 ranking. It marks the first time in program history the Knights have been ranked for three consecutive weeks.
Through six matches, the Knights have scored 12 goals while averaging 2.0 goals and 18.3 shots per match. Queens has posted four shutouts on the year, ranking 23rd in the country in shutout percentage.
Senior Ashley Kieblesz leads the Knights with six goals and 12 points. Kieblesz was named the East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31 before earning a spot on the ECC Honor Roll on Sept. 7. She has scored two game-winning goals this season, including her 81st-minute tally that lifted Queens to a 1-0 victory over Georgian Court.
Sophomore Ana Impellizzeri was named the ECC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 14. Impellizzeri recorded a team-high three-point week, tallying her first goal and assist of the season. She recorded her first assist of the year against No. 7 Pace as the Queens comeback attempt fell just short. On Saturday, Impellizzeri scored her first goal of the year as the Knights earned a 2-0 shutout victory over Dominican.
Senior Ava Angiuli was named to the ECC Honor Roll on Sept. 14. Angiuli recorded a team-high three-point week, tallying her first goal and assist of the season. She recorded her first assist of the year against No. 7 Pace Wednesday night as the Knights' comeback attempt fell just short in a 3-2 final. On Saturday, Angiuli recorded her first goal and game-winning goal of the year as Queens shut out Dominican, 2-0. Angiuli and the Knights' backline held off a second-half Chargers rally as Queens earned its fourth shutout of the year.
Senior goalkeeper Samantha Hines-Hirsch earned her third consecutive ECC weekly honor, landing on the Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 14. Hines-Hirsch recorded nine saves in a 1-1 week for the Knights. Against No. 7 Pace, the senior tallied two saves as Queens' comeback attempt fell just short in a 3-2 final. On Saturday, Hines-Hirsch posted her fourth shutout of the year, recording a season-best seven saves in the Knights' 2-0 victory over Dominican.
Rookie Mia Hanson and senior Anna Tavantzis have combined for nine points, recording two goals and five assists, with Hanson leading the Knights with a team-best three assists.
The Knights hit the road to New Haven, Conn., for a Wednesday night non-conference affair against Southern Connecticut State University before hosting defending ECC Champions Roberts Wesleyan University on Saturday afternoon in the team's conference opener.

The Owls enter the week with an overall record of 3-0-2 and are coming off a 3-0 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday.
Wednesday's matchup will mark the 11th all-time meeting between the two sides, with the Knights trailing the series, 0-8-2, and are searching for their first-ever victory over their non-conference foe.
It will be the fourth consecutive season the two sides have matched up, with the Knights recording two scoreless ties while falling, 2-0, in 2024.

The Redhawks enter Flushing with an overall record of 4-0-3 and are coming off a 3-1 victory over Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday.

Saturday's contest will mark the 14th all-time meeting between the two sides, with Queens trailing the series, 2-11. The Knights are searching for their first victory over the Redhawks since earning a 1-0 victory on Oct. 19, 2014, in Flushing.
NEXT WEEK OUTLOOK
Queens will stay at home as they return to non-conference play on Wednesday, hosting Saint Anselm College before traveling to Sparkill on Saturday to face St. Thomas Aquinas College in ECC play.
