PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Returning to non-conference action, the Queens College women's soccer team traveled to Pleasantville to face Pace University at Northwell Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Despite a competitive first half, the Knights fell to the Setters with a final score of 7-0.
MATCH RECAP
The Setters controlled the match from the first whistle as they outshot the Knights 9-0, including taking a 1-0 lead in the 22
nd minute of play.
The Knights' best chance came in the 42nd minute when junior forward
Carly Koprowski (Wantagh, N.Y.) registered a shot on target, but it was saved to preserve the Setters' lead at halftime.
Rookie forward
Avery Shreffler (Westlake, OH) opened the second half looking for the equalizer in the 47
th minute of play, but her shot would get blocked.
However, over the next 15 minutes of play, the Setters would score four quick goals to take a commanding 5-0 lead, putting the match out of reach as they defeated the Knights on Tuesday evening.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The trio of Koprowski, Shreffler, and sophomore midfielder Morgan Khadra (Grand Island, N.Y.) combined for four shots, with Koprowski and Khadra recording shots on goal.
- The Knights were outshot 20-4, 12-2 shots on goal.
NEXT MATCH
The Knights will conclude the week on Saturday, September 27, as they return to East Coast Conference action, hosting the Mercy University Mavericks at Knights Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
