COLONIA, N.J. – On the third East Coast Conference men's basketball weekly report sheet released Monday afternoon, three Queens College men's basketball student-athletes were honored.
Led by senior forward
Tahj-Malik Campbell (Philadelphia, PA), who was named Defensive Player of the Week, rookie forward
Henri Mennander (Helsinki, Finland) was named Rookie of the Week, and lastly junior guard
Dontae Prescott (Coney Island, N.Y.) earned a Honor Roll spot.
Defensive Player of the Week
For the third straight week, Campbell has earned a spot on the weekly report sheet, claiming his first top honors of the year along with two Honor Roll recognitions.
Campbell led the team over two games, averaging 26.5 PPG on 61.1% shooting (22-of-36 FG), 12.5 RPG, 2.0 SPG, and 2.0 BPG, with two double-doubles. Campbell opened the week with his first career double-double, scoring a career-high 31 points on 60.0% shooting, 10 rebounds, two blocks, and one steal against Adelphi. Facing defending East Regional champions Assumption Sunday afternoon, he posted 22 points on 62.5% shooting, a career-high 15 rebounds, two blocks, and three steals, marking his second consecutive double-double.
Rookie of the Week
For the second time in just three weeks, Mennander has been named Rookie of the Week.
Mennander made an impact in two games, averaging 14.0 PPG on 70.6% shooting (12-of-17 FG) and 9.5 RPG, including one double-double. Mennander tallied six points and seven re-bounds against Adelphi. Facing defending East Regional champions Assumption Sunday afternoon, he recorded his first career double-double with a career-best 22 points on 69.2% shooting (9-of-13 FG), 12 rebounds, and three assists.
Honor Roll
For the first time this year, Prescott has found a spot on the weekly report sheet.
Prescott found his rhythm over two games, averaging 23.5 PPG on 60.7% shooting, 3.5 APG, and 1.0 SPG. Prescott began the week with a career-best 30 points on 55.0% shooting, including five three-pointers, five assists, two rebounds, and one steal against Adelphi. Facing defending East Regional champions Assumption Sunday afternoon, he tallied 17 points on 75.0% shooting, three three-pointers, two assists, one steal, and one rebound.
NEXT GAME
Staying on the road, the Knights open East Coast Conference play in Western New York on Friday, December 5, traveling to Amherst to take on the defending ECC champion Daemen University Wildcats. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
