FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College men's soccer team ended week three of play with an East Coast Conference victory in Rochester as they went 1-1 on the week.

Frank Vertullo and the Knights fell to Southern Connecticut State University on the road but would bounce back with a convincing victory over Roberts Wesleyan in the Knights East Coast Conference opener.
Queens College Preview (2024 Record: 2-4 Overall, 1-0 ECC)
- It would be a tough loss to open week three of play as the Knights fell 3-1 against SCSU Wednesday evening but opening ECC play in Rochester Queens would tie a season-high four-goal performance as they defeat Roberts Wesleyan 4-1 to open ECC play on a winning note.
- As a team, the Knights have recorded 11 goals registering 98 shots with 52 shots on goals.
- Sophomore forward Miguel Soto Gonzalez (Madrid, Spain) leads the teams with a team-high 10 points having recorded five goals.
- On Monday, Sept. 9, Soto Gonzalez earned his first ECC weekly honor as he was named to the Honor Roll sheet.
- Junior forward Harry Cooke (Market Drayton, England) has recorded nine points with three goals and three assists on the year.
- On Monday, Sept. 23, Cooke earned a Honor Roll spot on the third ECC Men's Soccer Weekly Report Sheet.
- Graduate student forward Carlos Almeida (Sao Paulo, Brazil) leads the team with four assists on the year.
- Junior Kevin Johnson (Oakdale, N.Y.) and redshirt junior Eyob Gaffigan (Walkersville, MD) have combined for three goals and two game-winning goals.
- In goal, junior Noris Iten (Sachseln, Switzerland) has earned all six starts recording 20 saves, one combined shutout, and holds a goals against average of 2.22.
- In the ECC Men's Soccer Preseason Poll, Vertullo and his squad have been tabbed to repeat as Champions as they earned four first-place votes for a total of 72 points. (Link)
Opponent Outlook
Vertullo and his squad open the week at home on Thursday, Sept. 26 as they welcome the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College to town for non-conference action. Queens will conclude the week in Buffalo on Saturday, Sept. 28 as they match up against the Saints of D'Youville in ECC play.

- The Saints enter the week with an overall record of 1-4-1 and are coming off a 1-1 tie against Mercy University in ECC play. They will match up against Seton Hill University on Wednesday before hosting the Knights on Saturday afternoon.
- Saturday's meeting will be the fourth overall meeting against D'Youville with Queens leading the All-Time series 3-0. In their last trip to Buffalo, the Knights earned a 1-0 victory on September 10, 2022.

Vertullo and the Knights open a season-high five-game homestand beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 2 as they welcome the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia to town before concluding the week's play on Saturday, Oct. 5 against the Dolphins of College of Staten Island.
