FLUSHING, N.Y. – Following a week off head coach
Thomas Paris and the Queens College women's soccer team return to action on Saturday, Sept. 21 as they match up against the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester.
Queens takes a two-game winning streak into their East Coast Conference opener having defeated Caldwell and Post last week.
Queens College Knights Preview (2024 Record: 2-2 Overall)
- The Knights are coming off a 2-0 week when they rallied to earn a 2-1 victory over Caldwell at home before posting a 2-1 road victory against Post.
- As a team, the Knights have registered four goals with 65 total shot attempts and 21 shots on goal.
- Sophomore defender Lluvy Lewis (Valley Stream, N.Y.) leads the team having recorded a team-high three points with a goal and one assist.
- Lewis earned a Honor Roll spot in the second ECC Weekly Report Sheet.
- Sophomore midfielder Ashley Kieblesz (Middle Village, N.Y.) has recorded one game-winning goal for two points on the year.
- Kieblesz earned a Honor Roll spot in the second ECC Weekly Report Sheet.
- While the duo of freshman Abigail Jalocha (Maspeth, N.Y.) and junior Adriana Melgar (Queens, N.Y.) have tallied the two other goals on the year.
- In goal, rookie Samantha Hines-Hirsch (Plainview, N.Y.) has earned four starts and has recorded 21 saves with a goals-against average of 1.85.
- Hines-Hirsch earned Defensive Player of the Week in the second ECC Weekly Report Sheet.
- In the 2024 ECC Preseason Coaches Poll the Knights have been tabbed to finish fifth. (Link)
Opponent Outlook
Queens opens ECC play against 2023 regular season champions Roberts Wesleyan University and will be looking to end an eight-game losing streak over the ECC foe to begin conference play on a strong note.
