Women’s Soccer Preview: Knights Welcome Caldwell before Hitting the Road at Post on Saturday

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Following a tough weekend to open the year head coach Thomas Paris and the Queens College women's soccer team get set to conclude the opening season homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 11 before hitting the road on Saturday, Sept. 14.

The Knights are coming off back-to-back losses as they fell to Southern Connecticut on Friday before dropping their second game of the year against Franklin Pierce on Sunday evening.

Queens College Knights Preview (2024 Record: 0-2 Overall)

  • As a team, the Knights have registered 16 shots with seven shots on goal but are still in search of their first goal.
    • Sophomore midfielder Ashley Kieblez (Middle Village, N.Y.) has registered three shots and a team-high two shots on goal
    • Senior forward Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) has registered three shots and has totaled one shot on goal.
  • In goal, rookie Samantha Hines-Hirsch (Plainview, N.Y.) has earned two starts and has recorded 14 saves with a goals-against average of 3.00.
  • In the 2024 ECC Preseason Coaches Poll the Knights have been tabbed to finish fifth. (Link)

Opponent Outlook

The Knights begin the week at home on Wednesday as they welcome the Cougars of Caldwell University to town before concluding the week on the road on Saturday, Sept. 14 against Eagles of Post University.

Caldwell University Preview

  • Overall Wins-Losses-Ties History: 9-4-0
  • Last Win: 3-0 (10/13/11)
  • Last Loss: 0-1 (9/13/23
  • Last Tie: -
  • The Cougars enter the week with an overall record of 1-0-1 as they are coming off a victory over College of Staten Island a tie against Mansfield University.
  • The Knights match up against the Cougars for the second straight year at Flushing, but it was the visitors who earned a 1-0 victory over Queens on September 13.
  • Queens is in search of their first victory over Caldwell since October 13, 2011, when they earned a 3-0 victory on the road.

Post University Preview

  • Overall Wins-Losses-Ties History: 2-2
  • Last Win: 4-1 (10/4/17)
  • Last Loss: 1-3 (9/6/23)
  • Last Tie: -
  • The Eagles enter the week with an overall record of 0-2 and are coming off losses to Saint Anselm College and Saint Michael's College.
  • The Knights visit Waterbury for the first time since the 2017 season when they earned a 4-1 victory on October 4.

Week Three Outlook

Head coach Thomas Paris and the Knights will use the week to prepare for their East Coast Conference opener in Rochester on Saturday, Sept. 21 as they match up against the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University.
