Nine Student-Athletes Earn ECC Weekly Award Honors Monday Afternoon

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Monday (Oct. 9) afternoon, the East Coast Conference announced Week six of the weekly awards for the fall sports, and nine Queens College Student-Athletes were honored for their performances from Oct. 2 to Oct. 8. 
 
Women's soccer and women's tennis led the way with each sport earning one of the top honors on the week, Volleyball led the way with three student-athletes finding a spot on the weekly award sheet. While men's soccer and the men's and women's cross country teams each saw one student-athlete earn a Honor Roll spot. 
 
Women's Soccer – Week Six
10.9 Ragone
ECC Offensive Player of the Week – Julia Ragone (Junior | Centereach, N.Y.)
  • For the fourth time this year, Ragone has earned a spot on the women's soccer weekly award sheet as the junior earns her first Offensive Player of the Week honors. 
  • Ragone recorded her first brace of the year in the Knights' 3-0 victory over Lincoln in ECC play Saturday afternoon. The Centereach native tallied a first-half brace as she recorded her team-leading fourth and fifth goals of the year.

Women's Tennis – Week Five
10.9 ECC WTEN Taszymowicz ROTW 
ECC Rookie of the Week – Kayla Taszymowicz (Sophomore | Brooklyn, N.Y.)
  • For the second straight week, a Knight has taken home one of the top honors in the Women's Tennis weekly award sheet as Taszymowicz earns Rookie of the Week honors.
  • Playing in her first dual match of the year, Taszymowicz earned her first victory at #5 singles court with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Molloy Isabella Fortaleza as Queens earned a 7-0 victory to move to 2-0 in ECC play.
10.9 ECC WTEN Makal HR 
ECC Honor Roll – Maja Makal (Senior | Bialystok, Poland)
  • For the second straight week, Makal has earned a Honor Roll spot on the weekly award sheet.
  • Makal went 2-0 on the week earning victories at #1 singles and doubles over Molloy. The senior began Saturday night with a 6-1 victory at #1 double with partner Saga Berggren before earning a 6-2, 6-0 victory at #1 singles over Camilla Caballero to help Queens move to 2-0 in ECC play.

Volleyball – Week Six
10.9 ECC WVB Franco HR
ECC Honor Roll – Christina Franco (Junior | Lynbrook, N.Y.)
  • For the third time this season, Franco has earned a Honor Roll spot to go with one Player of the Week honors on Oct. 1.
  • On the week the junior recorded 30 kills, 25 digs, four blocks, and two service aces. In the 3-2 victory over Roberts Wesleyan Franco recorded a career-high 23 kills hitting a scorching .340 to go with 17 digs, three service aces, and three blocks.
10.9 ECC WVB Boudouris HR 
ECC Honor Roll – Despina Boudouris (Junior | Athens, Greece)
  • For the fifth time this year, Boudouris has earned a spot on the weekly award sheet with her second Honor Roll spot to go with three Setter of the Week honors.
  • The Greece native recorded 82 assists, 20 digs, and three service aces. In the 3-2 victory over Roberts Wesleyan, Boudouris recorded a program-and-career-best 56-assist performance to go with 15 digs as the junior tallied her ninth double-double of the year.
10.9 ECC WVB Munn HR
ECC Defensive Player of the Week – Sarah Munn (Sophomore | Torrance, CA)
  • For the third time this year, Munn has found a spot on the weekly award sheet as the sophomore earns her second Honor Roll spot. 
  • Munn recorded a program-and-career-best 31 digs to go with five assists and one service in the 3-2 victory over Roberts Wesleyan. After the conclusion of the first set, Munn had two digs before putting on a defensive clinic to finish with 29 in the next four sets as Queens earned their fourth ECC victory of the year.

Cross Country – Week Six
10.9 ECC XC HR
ECC Women's Honor Roll – Rachel Mow (Sophomore | Esopus, N.Y.)
  • For the fifth time this year, the sophomore continues to lead the women's cross country program as she earned another spot on the weekly award sheet by earning her fourth Honor Roll spot.
  • Competing in the NJIT Highlander XC Challenge Saturday afternoon, Mow paced the Knights finishing first with a time of 20:48.8 to register her second-best time of the year to earn a top-50 finish for a 39th placing.
ECC Men's Honor Roll – Daniel DeGregori (Freshman | East Meadow, N.Y.)
  • For the fifth time this year, DeGregori has earned a spot on the XC weekly award sheet by earning his fourth Honor Roll accolade. 
  • The rookie recorded a new career-best time of 27:52.3 as he missed out on a top-50 finish to place 51st in the 8K NJIT Highlander XC Challenge Saturday afternoon.

Men's Soccer – Week Six
10.9 ECC MSOC Paquet HR
ECC Honor Roll – Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Senior | Sevilla, Spain)
  • For the second time this season, Paquet has earned a men's soccer honor roll spot. 
  • Paquet recorded a team-high five-point week with two goals and one assist. In the comeback tie against AIC on Wednesday evening, Paquet began the rally with a goal before finishing the night with a key assist off a corner kick as the Knights earned a crucial 3-3 tie in regional play. In ECC play against UDC Saturday afternoon Paquet tallied his third goal of the year and registered a point for the seventh straight game.
