ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – Looking to keep the momentum going, the Queens College women's soccer team traveled to Rockville Centre, N.Y. for an East Coast Conference match against the Lions of Molloy University at RVC Sports Complex.
In a back-and-forth defensive battle between both sides, the Knights held the Lions to two shots on goal to earn a hard-fought scoreless tie Saturday afternoon.
With the tie, the Knights improved to 5-6-4 overall and 2-3-2 in ECC play to boost their conference standing for a playoff berth with one match to go.
The Knights' eight points are the most in conference play since the 2015 season when they earned 11 points when they finished with an overall record of 3-4-2 in ECC action.
Saturday's draw ended a three-match losing streak to the Lions as they earned their first point over their ECC foe since the 2018 season when both teams played out to a double-overtime draw in Rockville Centre.

- Molloy began the match as the aggressor as they rattled two shots in the opening seven minutes of play including a shot on goal but graduate student Erin Kelly (Massapequa, N.Y.) was up to the task to deny the Lions the scoring opportunity.
- After being outshot 4-0 in the opening 12 minutes of play, Queens on the counterattack would increase their tempo after back-to-back fouls by the Lions.
- With junior Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) on the attack, the Centereach native would get fouled near the 18-yard box giving Queens a set piece opportunity.
- Ragone executed the free kick as she tallied a shot on goal but was denied by a timely save from the Lions goalie to keep the match scoreless.
- Despite being outshot 7-1, the Knights would keep the game scoreless heading into halftime.
- With the Lions continuing to maintain possession, Kelly and her defense would keep the game scoreless.
- After negating a corner kick, the Knights on the counterattack would look to open the scoring but Ragone's shot would get blocked inside the 18-yard box in the 69th minute of play.
- The Lions would get six corner kicks in the second half, but Kelly would continue to deny the Lions any attacking opportunity on the set pieces.
- In the final 15 minutes of play, the Knights would allow only two shots but both shots would sail wide as Queens earned a key point to boost their conference standing with a scoreless tie Saturday afternoon.
