FLUSHING, N.Y. – Returning to East Coast Conference play to conclude the week, the Queens College women's soccer team welcomed the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University to Flushing.
Playing in rainy conditions, the Knights would fall to the Redhawks 1-0 on Saturday evening.
With the loss, the Knights see their record move to 4-6-3 overall and 1-3-1 in ECC play.
Match Recap
- The Redhawks would open the match as the aggressor as they recorded two shots on goal in the opening five minutes of play but graduate student Erin Kelly (Massapequa, N.Y.) would deny the Redhawks on both shots.
- Queens would record two shots in the first half but rookie Jenna Rosenberger (Smithtown, N.Y.) and junior Julia Ragone (Centereach, N.Y.) shots would get blocked.
- An offside call would stop a Knights attacking opportunity in the 25th minute of play.
- The Redhawks would take a 1-0 lead in the 38th minute of play as a failed clearance allowed the visitors a scoring opportunity on a set piece.
- As the Knights' defense kept the deficit at 1-0, Queens would get an attacking opportunity in the 58th minute of play as a through ball from Rosenberger found Ragone inside the 18-yard box but the junior's shot would just miss sneaking under the crossbar as her shot sailed out top.
