Men’s Soccer Welcomes Molloy to Flushing in East Coast Conference Play

FLUSHING, N.Y. – East Coast Conference play resumes to open the month of October as the Queens College men's soccer team welcomes the Lions of Molloy University to Flushing Saturday (Oct. 1) evening at QC Soccer Field.
 
Game Time: 5:00 P.M.
 
Series History
  • Record: 9-5-1
  • Last Matchup: October 9, 2021 (W 1-0)  Current Streak: W1
  • It will be the 16th meeting between both sides in program history. 
  • The Knights are on a one-game winning streak over the Lions.
  • At home, Queens holds a 4-2-1 record as they have outscored the Lions 21-12.
  • Queens will be looking to end a two-game losing streak to Molloy with the last home win coming during the 2015 season.

Queens College
  • Queens is 8-3 overall, 3-1 in conference play, and are coming off of a 1-0 win victory over Georgian Court Tuesday afternoon.
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high 13 points, six goals, one assist, and four game-winning goals.
  • While freshman David Oprea (Oslo, Norway) has tallied three goals including two game-winners.
  • In goal, senior goalie Dario Giovanni Cruz (Guadalajara, México) has made 34 saves for an 8-3 overall record with four shutouts and one combined shutout. 
  • On Monday (Sept. 19), the East Coast Conference awarded Paquet Offensive Player of the Week as the sophomore tallied four points and two goals as he helped the Knights go 2-0 last week. (Link)
    • The rookie tallied the lone goal in the Knights' 1-0 victory over D'Youville in the ECC opener.
  • Cruz was named Defensive Player of the week for the second straight week as he made four saves and earned two shutout victories in the Knights' 2-0 week. (Link) 
Molloy University
  • Molloy is 4-2-5 overall, 3-0-1 in conference action, are coming off a 0-0 draw against Bloomfield College Wednesday evening.
  • Gio Fabiano leads the offense with 12 points having scored six goals. 
  • While Ryan Dobson has tallied four goals and one assist for nine points.
  • The Lions have slotted to finish first in the ECC Coaches' Preseason Poll.  
UP NEXT: Queens returns to non-conference action as they welcome the Griffins of Seton Hill University to Flushing on Wednesday (Oct. 5) evening at QC Soccer Field. Kick-off is set for 7:00 P.M.
