Men's Soccer Opens Two-Game ECC Trip Begnning With #23 Mercy

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Wednesday (Sept. 21) afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team hits the road as East Coast Conference play continues with a midweek matchup against nationally ranked #24 Mercy College Mavericks at Mercy Field.  
 
Game Time: 3:00 P.M.

Series History
  • Record: 7-6-1
  • Last Matchup: October 22, 2021 (L 2-4)  Current Streak: L4
  • It will be the 15th meeting in program history between both sides. 
  • The Knights are on a four-game slide against the Mavericks. 
  • At Mercy Field, the Knights are 3-4 overall with their last win coming during the 2015 season.

Queens College
  • The Knights are 6-2, 1-0 ECC on the season and riding a four-game win streak into Wednesday's game.
  • On Wednesday (Sept. 14) Queens defeated #15 Southern Connecticut State University on the road with a 3-0 victory before ending the week with a 3-0 victory over Daemen Saturday (Sept. 17) afternoon.
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high 11 points, five goals, one assist, and four game-winning goals.
  • In goal, senior goalie Dario Giovanni Cruz(Guadalajara, México)  has made 27 saves for a 6-2 record with three straight shutouts.
  • On Monday (Sept. 19), the East Coast Conference awarded Paquet Offensive Player of the Week as the sophomore tallied four points for two goals as he helped the Knights go 2-0 last week. (Link)
  • Cruz was named Defensive Player of the week for the second straight week as he made four saves and earned two shutout victories in the Knights' 2-0 week. (Link)
  • On Tuesday (Sept. 20), the Knights find themselves ranked #7 in the East Region as announced by United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII for the first time this season. (Link)  
Mercy College
  • The Mavericks are 6-1-1, 2-0 ECC on the season, and are on a four-game win streak. 
  • Benjamin van Buren leads the offense having tallied three points. 
  • While Daniel Rodriguez has tallied seven points for two goals and three assists. 
  • Mercy has been slotted to finish third in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll.
UP NEXT: The Knights continue ECC play as they travel to Rochester, N.Y. on Saturday (Sept. 21) afternoon as they match up against the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
