Men’s Soccer Return to ECC Play against Daemen at Home

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Saturday (Sept. 18) afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team open their home portion of the East Coast Conference slate as the Wildcats of Daemen University come to Flushing.  
 
Game Time: 3:30 P.M.
 
Series History
  • Record: 6-2
  • Last Matchup: November 6, 2021 (L 2-4)  Current Streak: L1
  • It will be the ninth meeting in program history between both sides. 
  • At home, the Knights are 3-1 against Daemen.

Queens College
  • The Knights are 5-2, 1-0 ECC on the season and riding a three-game win streak into Saturday's game.
  • On Wednesday (Sept. 14) Queens defeated #15 Southern Connecticut State University on the road with a 3-0 victory.  
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high nine points, four goals, and one assist. 
  • While junior Leo Pinto (Forest Hills, N.Y.), and freshman David Oprea (Oslo, Norway) have combined for 11 points, four goals, and three assists on the season.
  • In goal, senior goalie Dario Giovanni Cruz(Guadalajara, México)  has made 25 saves for a 5-2 record with two straight shutouts.
  • On Monday (Sept. 12), the East Coast Conference awarded Oprea Offensive Player of the Week for the rookie's five points, two goals, and two assists week as he helped the Knights go 2-0 last week. (Link)
    • The rookie tallied the lone goal in the Knights' 1-0 victory over D'Youville in the ECC opener.
  • Cruz was named Defensive Player of the week as he made nine saves and earned his first shutout victory of the season in the Knights' 1-0 victory over D'Youville to open ECC play. (Link) 
Daemen University
  • The Wildcats are 2-2-1, 0-1 ECC on the season and enter Flushing on a two-game losing streak. 
  • Riccardo Boscolo Bachetto leads the offense with six points having tallied three goals.
  • While Derek Bartlo has tallied five points for two goals and one assist. 
  • Daemen has been slotted to finish eighth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll. 
UP NEXT: The Knights continue ECC play as they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. on Wednesday (Sept. 21) afternoon as they match up against the Mavericks of Mercy College. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m.
