Men’s Soccer Concludes the Regular Season against Staten Island in Flushing

FLUSHING, N.Y. – The 2022 regular season comes to a close on Saturday (Oct. 29) evening as the Queens College men's soccer team welcomes fellow CUNY member College of Staten Island Dolphins to Flushing in East Coast Conference action.
 
Having already clinched a playoff spot for the ECC tournament, a win on Saturday will earn the #2 seed and hosting right for the semi-final game slated for November 3. It will be the highest finish in conference standings for the Knights since they finished third back in 2018.

Series History
  • Record: 1-0
  • Last Matchup: September 25, 2021 (W 1-0) Current Streak: W1
  • It will be the second meeting against their fellow CUNY member in the Division II era.
  • The Knights were victorious in their meeting last season as Queens won 1-0 in Staten Island. 
  • Saturday's game will be the first home game against the Dolphins.

Queens College
  • Queens is 12-5 overall, and 5-2 in ECC play and are riding their second four-game win streak of the season. 
  • Sophomore Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) leads the offense with a team-high 20 points, nine goals, two assists, and six game-winning goals.
  • While Leo Pinto (Forest Hill, N.Y.) has tallied 12 points on the season with four goals and a season-high four assists.
  • In goal senior Dario Giovanni Cruz (Guadalajara, México) has made 58 saves for a 12-5 overall record with eight shutouts.
  • On Monday (Oct. 24) the East Coast Conference awarded named freshman Oscar Garces (Centereach, N.Y.) Rookie of the Week, becoming the fourth rookie to earn weekly award honors and the third Knights rookie to earn top honors.
    • Paquet earned a spot for the weekly award sheet for the fifth time this season. (Link)
  • The Knights have been slotted to finish sixth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll.
College of Staten Island
  • The Dolphins are 4-10-2 overall, and 2-3-2 in conference play and enter Queens on a one-losing skid having fallen to Daemen Wednesday afternoon.  
  • Daniel Angulo leads the offense having tallied nine points with three goals and three assists. 
  • Staten Island was voted to finish seventh in the ECC Preseason Coaches poll
