Men’s Soccer at Staten Island Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y.- The Queens College men's soccer returns to East Coast Conference play with a matchup against fellow CUNY member College of Staten Island Dolphins Saturday morning. The two sides will face each other for the first time in the NCAA Division II era.

The two sides are meeting for the first time in the NCAA Division II era. 
 
Scouting Queens College Knights
 
The Knights are coming off a 3-1 win over Chestnut Hill College Wednesday evening with goals from freshman Leonel Zelaya, sophomore Nicholas Tagios, and senior Erik Hernandez. In goal, Dario Cruz made four saves on the night to earn his fourth win of the season. 
 
Tagios leads the Knights with 13 points and six goals, while Zelaya has scored two on the offense. Sophomore Tobias Holtz has a team-high three assists. Tagios and Zelaya have combined for 33 shots, with 18 shots on goals. Cruz has started all six games for the Knights making 23 saves while holding a 1.18 goals-against average. 
 
Scouting Staten Island 
 
On the season the Dolphins are 1-4, 0-1 in conference play with their lone win coming against Bloomfield College. The Dolphins have scored four goals on the season and have been outscored 13-4 with opponents scoring 2.60 goals a game. Omer Hamzeacebi and Bougary Sissoko have combined for minutes in goal with the latter having earned the last two starts including the start against ECC member Mercy College. Sissoko has made eight saves in two starts on the season allowing three goals. 
 
Next Match-up: The Knights will conclude the month of September against St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, N.Y. for a Wednesday conference matchup. Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
