Men’s Soccer at Bridgeport Preview

FLUSHING, N.Y.- East Coast Conference play begins for the Queens College men's soccer team (3-1) with a trip to Bridgeport, Connecticut Saturday evening. The Knights go up against the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights (0-2-2). The last three games have seen 330 minutes of total play, 12 goals, but all have resulted in ties. In the overall series, the Knights are 2-7-4, with the last win coming in 2014 on the road.

After trialing 2-0 at halftime, the Knights battled back in the second half behind Romario Hulea brace in four minutes. Marek Strzelczyk made seven saves in the game, including two saves towards the end of regulation. Hula's two goals came on five total shots off the bench while Cristian Villalta led all QC starters with four shots in the game. Emgi Gousse and Kevin Quituizaca both had three shots in the contest as well.
 
Scouting Queens College Knights
 
The Knights are 3-1 on the season and are riding a two-game winning streak. Sophomore Nicholas Tagios (East Williston, N.Y.) scored his first career hat trick in the 4-2 over Holy Family University Wednesday evening. On the season Tagios leads the offense with five goals, while sophomore Tobias Holtz (Sachseln, Switzerland)  has a team-high three assists. The Knights are averaging 11. 3 shots per game as they have attempted 45 shots in four games. Holding 1.27 goals-against average in 354:40 minutes of play in goal junior Dario Cruz (Guadalajara, México) has made all four starts for the Knights making 15 saves, including two saves from the penalty spot. 
 
Scouting Bridgeport
 
The Purple Knights are 0-2-2 on the season and are coming off a 4-0 loss to Southern New Hampshire University. Offensively they are led by Chigozie Okorie with two goals while Lucas Sousa and Luis Rubio have scored one goal apiece. They are averaging 8.8 shots per game. 
 
Next Match-up: The Knights will resume non-conference play on Wednesday evening as they travel to Philadelphia, PA with a matchup against Chestnut Hill College Griffins. Kick-off slated for 7:00 P.M.
