- Queens would control possession of the final 25 minutes as they held D'Youville without a shot but Picard would keep his team in the game at the same time to make sure both teams went into halftime scoreless.
- At 46:48 sophomore Nicholas Tagios (East Williston, N.Y.) put on a dribbling clinic before his shot was blocked but Hernandez was in the right spot for the rebound as he dribbled the ball past two defenders before he blasted a left-footed shot into the top left corner to give the Knights a 1-0 lead at 46:57.
- With the Knights searching for an insurance goal, freshman Leonel Zelaya (Amityville, N.Y.) shot in the 60thminute would be saved before his next shot hit the top woodwork.
- With the clock entering the final 15 minutes of play, Felipe Santos would get one final shot only to be dined by Cruz as he preserved his fourth shutout of the season and third in conference play.
