Men's Soccer Grabs Thrilling 4-3 Double Overtime Win Over Molloy

QUEENS, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Nicholas Matusewicz registered four points, and scored the game winning goal in the Queens College men's soccer team's double overtime 4-3 victory over Molloy Saturday afternoon in East Coast Conference action.

Trailing 3-1 in the second half, the Lions forced overtime with a pair of goals, including the equalizer in the 84th minute.

Queens senior back Aitor Gurruchaga scored the contest's first two goals, each in the form of header off a corner kick.  After Gurruchaga's second goal in the 52nd minute, off a Matusewicz helper, Molloy cut the deficit in half on a goal by Lucas Munoz in the 54th minute.  Senior Calvin Moyes scored his first of the campaign in the 57th minute to push the lead back to two on a feed from Matusewicz before Molloy answered back.

In the 69th minute, Joshua Zapata, streaking down the right side of the field, took a one touch pass from Lester Franco and beat Queens goalkeeper James Brostowski to the lower right side of the cage.  In the 84th minute, the Lions tied the game when Dale McNevin headed in a shot that snuck just inside the crossbar for his first of the season.

In the 108th minute, Matusewicz registered the game winner on the team's fourth set piece goal of the day.  Following a foul, Molloy's 25th of the game, Matusewicz headed senior midfielder Glen Reid's feed into the right post for his first career game winner.

The two teams each registered 17 shots in the game, while Queens held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.  Brostowski made three saves for the Knights, while Stephen Tappeto had five saves for Molloy.

Queens is back in action Wednesday afternoon at home, when it welcomes Bridgeport for a 1:00 pm kickoff.
