QUEENS, N.Y. - The Queens College women's soccer team opened its 2015 East Coast Conference schedule with a 1-0 victory over Molloy Saturday afternoon at QC Soccer Field.

After a scoreless first half, sophomore forward Erin Vernillo supplied the game's only tally in the 69th minute off a feed by senior Nicolette Scrozzo.  For Vernillo, it marked her third goal of the season and first game winner of the campaign.

In a game that was played in the majority of the middle of the field, Queens was once again boasted by the back line play of senior Bridget Gleason, sophomore Courtney Locurcio, sophomore Haley Gibbons and freshman Adriana Mendrinos.

Sophomore goalkeeper Megan Deak posted two second half saves as the team collected its third clean sheet of the season.  The Knights outshot the Lions 10-7, and held a 4-1 margin in corner kicks.

The Knights are back in action Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 pm at home against Bridgeport.
