Women's Soccer Deals Nyack A 4-0 Loss On The Road

QUEENS, N.Y. - The Queens College women's soccer team moved to an even 2-2 on the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over Nyack Thursday afternoon on the road.  After a scoreless opening half, the Knights connected for four goals in the second stanza.

The Knights opened the scoring in the 50th minute. Courtney Lucurcio sent a cross towards the net, which senior co-captain Bridget Gleason headed in for her second tally of the season.

Sophomore Taylor Bonanno pushed the lead to two in the 60th minute.  Bonanno pushed a shot across which was helped by a punt from goalkeeper Megan Deak.

Sophomore Erin Vernillo beat the goalkeeper on a one on one chance in the 61st minute to give Queens a 3-0 advantage.  In the 78th minute, sophomore Alexis Qualle was brought down in the box and responded by connecting on the ensuing penalty kick for her first career goal.

Queens held a 14-3 advantage in shots, including a 9-0 margin in the second half.  The Knights also held a 8-0 cushion in corner kicks.

Nyack goalkeeper Jordan Jansen made five saves in net for the Warriors.  Deak made two saves for Queens, before Kimberly Chacko played out the final 15 minutes to share the clean sheet.

The Knights are back in action Saturday at 12:00 pm against Molloy in the first game of an ECC double header with the men's squad.
