Men's Soccer Rolls To 4-1 Victory Over St. Thomas Aquinas

SPARKILL, N.Y. - Freshman Andras Breuer and junior Brian Belfont each registered a goal and assist in the Queens College men's soccer team's 4-1 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas Saturday afternoon at Spartan Field in East Coast Conference action.

Breuer got Queens on the board just 105 seconds into the match.  Off a feed from senior Glen Reid, Breuer took a shot from 22 yards away, curling into the net.  In the 31st minute, Belfont found the net from six yards out to give the Knights a 2-0 advantage.

Just before halftime, junior Nikolas Maher scored Queens' third goal of the period.  Maher's attempt went in off the post after assists from Belfont and junior Nicholas Matusewicz.

The Spartans cut the deficit to two in the 59th minute, when Ivan Gomez scored his first goal of the season.  In the 82th minute, senior Paul Sandoval scored the Knights' final tally of the day.  Taking a pass from Breuer, Sandoval blasted his attempt into the right corner.

Queens outshot St. Thomas Aquinas 10-8 in the contest.  Junior Robbie Webster made the start in net for the Knights, and registered one save.  Sean Connolly made one stop in goal for the Spartans.

QC visits Adelphi Tuesday evening in non-conference action at 7:00 pm.
