Box Score QUEENS, N.Y. - Faced with a wet field on a dark and rainy Wednesday afternoon, the Queens College men's soccer team (7-8, 7-2 ECC) paced itself to a 4-0 conference win over University of District of Columbia (5-11-1, 3-7 ECC). The win brought the team close to clinching the number two seed in the East Coast Conference.
Prior to kickoff, head coach Carl Christian and the Knights honored their seniors in defenders Calvin Moyes, Aitor Gurruchaga, Juan Sebastian Nino, midfielders Glen Reid, Gustavo Holtz, Isaiah Kossinne, Navdeep Bains, Pol Narbona and forward Paul Sandoval.
The seniors and the Knights got off to a fast start when Glen Reid headed the ball in the eighth minute to the left post from a Kossine cross to give the Knights a 1-0 lead. Queens continued to dominate the game when Reid assisted on a Nicholas Mausewicz goal in the 41st to take a 2-0 lead into half.
Queens came out with the same flare as Narbona scored in the 51st minute off a Georgios Thomatos cross to take a 3-0 lead. Reid would end the scoring sheet when Andras Breuer blasted the ball past UDC goalie Louis Connor to the right side of the post. The defenders did not allow UDC to take another shot as Queens dominated throughout the whole game.
The Knights dominated the shot column 14-6 and corner kicks 8-5. QC Goalkeeper Robbie Webster had a semi-busy day at the post as he racked up three saves all which came in the first half and Connor had five saves on the day for UDC.
Postseason Bound: QC concludes the regular season looking to lock up home field advantage for the ECC semifinals, the Knights travel to Old Westbury, NY on Saturday October 31 to face ECC conference foe
